“Ojiro” village is in the Tajima area of the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture. As the name “Ojiro” means “small rice paddies” (“o” small “shiro” rice paddies), this village is surrounded by mountains and full of nature and spreading small rice terraces.
“Rice Terraces of Ueyama” located in Nukida in Ojiro village, is famous for the birthplace of “Tajiri-go”, a Tajima Cattle who is the ancestor of more than 99.9% of Japanese Black wagyu.
Although “Rice Terraces of Ueyama” is not large in scale, but draws unique curves of ridges on the slope and has a view on the front is so beautiful, was selected as “one of the Top 100 Rice Terraces in Japan”

According to a survey by the National Wagyu Registry Association in 2012, 99.9% of the mother cattle of Kuroge Wagyu in Japan has been proved to be the descendant of the Super Cattle “Tajiri-go” which was born by “Ojiro”.
The fact that 99.9% of mother cattle are descendants of the “Tajiri-go” means that most Japanese wagyu cattle are descendants of the “Tajiri-go”.
“Tajiri-go” was born in “Ojiro” in 1951, then left 1,500 children in the 13 years thereafter, the calves and the grandchildren are taken over in the production areas of Kuroge Wagyu beef all over the country such as Miyazaki, Hida, Matsuzaka, Yonezawa, It contributed to improvement of meat quality.
“Tajiri-go” which can be said as a legend in wagyu beef cattle.
Tajima beef, which is the source of world-famous branded beef in Japan such as Kobe, Sanda and Awaji etc. are originally born in Ojiro village of Tajima region.
