Shikano Castle Ruins of the period of Warring States, the stone wall of an inner moat, the outer moat and at the centered on the “Shiroyama (literally, castle hill)” retains traces of that time.
The observation from top of castle mountain -ruined castle tower- is beautiful too where you can see the Sea of Japan.
Approximately 500 Yoshino cherry trees are planted and are got close as a famous spot of cherry blossoms in spring. Cherry trees reflected on the surface of the water of the both ends of the moat creates fantastic scenery at night.

In the Warring States Period, it was the residence of Kamei Korenori, Lord of Shikano Castle, the stone wall of an inner moat, the outer moat and at the centered on the “Shiroyama (literally, castle hill)” retains traces of that time.

This castle town was developed by Kamei Korenori in 1581 and the town layout are still well preserved.
You can enjoy Shikano throughout the year such as the moat in the park, beautiful townscapes, cherry blossoms at Shikano Castle Ruins park in spring, autumn colour of leaves of Shiroyama and a big colored ginkgo tree at Koseiji temple in autumn.
In addition, there are plenty of places to stop-by in Shikano, such as a restaurant that renovated old houses, Cafe, galleries and souvenir shops, popular bakeries and soba noodle restaurant.

“Yumekomichi” is famous for “Sugegasa (sedge hat) Gozen” meal.
The building of “Yumekomichi” is a beautifully renovated old townhouse of more than 80 years with red tiles and white walls.
A heartfelt cuisine by the local ladies’ group which local traditional home taste meal arranged on a “Sugegasa (sedge hat)” and it is a delicious and as well as beautiful.
